Malta Village Festas
A festa is a village’s celebration of its patron saint, and it is the heart of a Maltese summer. Streets are hung with banners and lights, brass bands march through the village, the statue of the saint is carried in procession and the night ends with fireworks. Most festas fall between June and September, with something on almost every weekend. They are free and everyone is welcome.

- Go on the Saturday or Sunday evening for the band marches and fireworks.
- Try festa food: nougat (qubbajt), pastizzi and hot dogs from the street stalls.
- Dress respectfully if you go into the church to see the decorations.
Malta Carnival 2027
Malta Carnival 2027 runs from 5 to 9 February. The main parades of decorated floats and costumed dancers take place in Valletta and Floriana, with smaller events across Malta and Gozo. Nadur in Gozo is known for its more spontaneous, unscripted carnival.
